“I’m originally from East New York. But I’ve been over here now for 25 years.”

What are you doing out today?

“I retired last year. At the age of 56. So now I just ride around, cruising, enjoying the city. It’s funny–I’ve lived here my whole life and still don’t know Brooklyn.”

What do you mean?

“Well you know, like, Williamsburg, Coney Island, you got Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Canarsie…if you live in certain areas like that, maybe you don’t go to other areas. The only way to get around Brookyln and see it all is a bike. So I got one.”

And you feel you can get around the different neighborhoods now?

“Oh yeah. ‘Cause a lot of times, between the buses and the trains, not everything goes where you want it to. But now I don’t have to worry about that! I go wherever my heart desires.”
